Steve Carroll appointed Chief Executive of real estate wellbeing organisation Rise Initiative

Respected industry figure and Digital Live founder Steve Carroll has stepped into the role of chief executive officer at Rise Initiative, as the not-for-profit intensifies its commitment to supporting mental health and wellbeing across the real estate profession.

The appointment represents a significant leadership step for the organisation, which has focused on mental health support, education, and resilience-building tools for the industry since its founding in 2019.

Mr Carroll has held senior roles with major media companies, and is the founder of the Digital Live charity ride — an initiative that has raised more than $2 million for underprivileged children in Thailand while uniting real estate professionals around a shared purpose.

In his new role, Carroll is expected to focus on two key priorities: expanding awareness of the Rise Initiative and its wellness tool, the REALcare app, and increasing industry engagement with Rise events.

Unlike traditional training events, Rise events are designed to help industry leaders recognise the signs of mental health challenges and respond with empathy and support.

The REALcare app, created to provide accessible wellbeing support, includes daily mental health check-ins, crisis response tools and self-care features tailored to the unique demands of the property industry.

Carroll has publicly acknowledged the growing concern around mental health in the sector, with recent Digital Live charity events revealing widespread conversations about stress, burnout and the impact on families.

The 2026 charity ride is already sold out, with strong community momentum driving participation year after year.

The Rise Initiative hopes to mirror that momentum by encouraging a culture of proactive care, where professionals share and promote tools like the REALcare app among colleagues, friends and family.

The next Rise Leadership Action event will take place in Sydney on 10–11 April, with tickets now available.
